I have been following the development regarding the Press Conference held by one of the PDP stalwart in Zamfara (Dr) Aslam Aliyu Kaura on Sunday where she raised fundamental issues related to the politics of the PDP in Zamfara and action and in-action of its gubernatorial candidate (Dr) Dauda Lawal.
For us as a medium our expectations is for the Dauda Lawal or his campaign committee to respond formally to the issues raised by Mrs Aslam Aliyu especially those issues that relate to the political development of the PDP and even the personal integrity of the gubernatorial candidate.
Aslam Aliyu during the press conference alleged that, the gubernatorial candidate had diverted the funds provided by Atiku Abubakar the party’s Presidential flag-bearer meant for the settlement of party supporters during the just concluded Presidential polls and that the action of Mr. Dauda Lawal according to her resulted to PDP losing the election in Zamfara state, this is a (BIG ALLEGATION).
She stated that she attended the meeting at the private resident of Gen. Aliyu Muhammad Gusau (Rtd) where money meant for the settlement of party agents and other party stakeholders were released to him “AS REQUESTED” but noted that since when he was given the money, he retired in-door and refused to release a dime to any party agents and officials this allegation is also a“ (BIG ONE) and it needs to be cleared.
She also stated that, Mr. Dauda Lawal since when he won the primary has ignored all those that assisted him to reach to the level he is instead she stated that he imported different people from Abuja who have nothing to offer him and that resulted in the crises of factions within the party. She categorically stated that, since when they assisted Dauda Lawal to win election, he neither call nor returned calls because he does not value anyone again.
She stated that, “if you see Dauda Lawal calling you, he needed a help from you”. Even if one is not told Dauda Lawal or any other one need to clarify this allegation is also a (A BIG ONE).
(Dr) Aslam Aliyu had also alleged that, Atiku Abubakar has provided relief materials to thousands of Internally Displaced Persons and alleged during the Press Conference that Dauda Lawal diverted these relief materials meant for the IDP’s. To many political observers, this will be the most disastrous allegation a serious minded political candidate shall ignore.
She also alleged that, Dauda Lawal is incapacitated to lead a party to success since he has failed to unite the PDP after his emergence as the PDP gubernatorial candidate; hence she attested that PDP was more united under herself, Mahadi and Kabiru Yahaya Classique. If what she said was true, does the declaration of Dauda Lawal as “incapacitated stands?.
More worrisome was the allegation she raised that Dauda Lawal since when he emerged as the gubernatorial candidate has never been truthful to the party supporters, noting that all that he said, doesn’t reflect on the true situation of things in the PDP. This is more alarming because it borders on the personal integrity of the gubernatorial candidate, and he needs to also respond to it ASAP.
On the general notes, I think the allegations raised by (Dr) Aslam Aliyu against (Dr) Dauda Lawal is really alarming because unless they are cleared his remaining supporters may likely have a second thought about his sincerity as gubernatorial candidate.
The responses of some PDP supporters castigating (Dr) Aslam calling her all sort of names may not save (Dr) Dauda Lawal he need to react to these allegations one-by-one and clear his name if not just like she predicted he will face the desirable political consequences on Saturday.
In our candid opinion, (Dr) Dauda Lawal and his supporters shall allow (Dr) Aslam to be as the messenger and hit the messages sent for clarification.
