According to the statement by the Special Adviser of Security to Governor of Borno State Brigadier General Ishaq Abdullahi retired said the percentage of these people highlighted earlier are either dead or they have surrendered to the supremacy of the state authorities.
General Abdullahi stated further that significant number of Boko Haram commanders died in the course of fighting war within themselves, especially when the group disbanded into two namely: Boko Haram and ISWAP
The security adviser based his argument on the recent statement credited to one of the Boko Haram commanders where he said they started with about (300) members but now less than (10) of them remains as a result of division in the leadership.
He added that the majority of the Boko Haram followers were killed by snake bites as a result of their long stay in the forest, while others were killed as a result of military attacks
