Under its equity initiative, the Gombe State Contributory Health-Care Management Agency would provide benefits to no fewer than 1,000 children living in Almajiri.
According to our correspondent, the event was planned at the Tsansanya, Almajiri, and Islamiyya schools with assistance from the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor.
Speaking, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya—who was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Jatau—explained that the goal of GoHealth was to ensure that the public’s health needs, especially those of the underprivileged and weaker members of society, would receive unwavering attention from his administration.
“Of course, most people in this category couldn’t have gotten health care because they couldn’t afford it, if it weren’t for this scheme,” he stated.
We are seeing the enrollment and registration of 1,000 Almajiri kids into the Gombe State Health Insurance Scheme, which is a noteworthy milestone in our administration’s efforts to provide healthcare. This initiative is a crucial step towards ensuring that every resident of Gombe State has access to quality healthcare services, regardless of their socio-economic status. By prioritizing the health needs of vulnerable populations, we are working towards building a healthier and more equitable society for all.
The governor emphasized the significance of the proposal by pointing out that the Almajiris are a vulnerable group that lead a lifestyle that increases their risk of contracting infectious diseases due to their exposure to the hostile environment.
