During a Saturday congress held at the state party secretariat in Katsina, a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in Katsina State, led by Yakubu Lado, the party’s candidate for governor in the 2023 general election, elected new leaders. Nura Kurfi was named as the new PDP chairman in the state by Ilu Bello, the Congress Chairman, who was announcing the new party officials.
In accordance with the constitution, we have the Independent National Electoral Commission representative present to observe the results of our election for the 39 posts, which include representatives from state, local, and federal governments, Ilu stated. In his speech of acceptance, the newly appointed chairman, Amadi, stated that the new officials will uphold the trust placed in them.
Today, Saturday, August 31, 2024, as we assume the mantle of leadership, we shall mend the damaged barriers inside PDP. With God’s blessing, we will win the state in the general election in 2027,” Amadi declared to the assembly.
Nonetheless, some members of the state’s main opposition, including Salisu Majigiri, a member of the House of Representatives representing Katsina’s Mashi/Dutsi Federal constituency and a former state party chairman, Senator Ibrahim Tsauri, the chairman of the Atiku/Lado 2023 campaign director, and Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, the leader of the Lado gubernatorial campaign movement, were absent.
