Plenty of people commended the PDP and indeed Governor Dauda Lawal for opening the political chances of many young promising politicians who believed they have possessed unrestricted political support from their constituents.
Even though the decision is the best model that democratic principles allows, it is also considered as “politically suicidal” for the PDP because if not manage very well the development of having too many aspirants may be the beginning of the very trouble and unending crisis for the party.
But regardless of what, PDP under Jibo Magayaki has and Dauda Lawal has brought a fresh air of hope to many young stars that may want to test their political popularities for long which the old political system in Zamfara denied.
Before now, the tradition has always been one person deciding the fate of everyone within the party without any power that can challenge him, and it has been the practice in Zamfara since 1999.
As it stands now, no one can say this is the dimension of the party the (PDP) as regards to whom it’s suitable candidate may be in each of the (14) local governments and indeed the dimension of the party is basically that of Governor Dauda Lawal who is the “supreme” leader of the party in the state.
Even with this development, majority of the political observers believed that some aspirants have started a journey of committing their “final political suicide” which may eventually lead to the termination of their political carrier in totality.
It is not a political prophecy but an adventure of their political precedence and indeed, especially the relationships they built with their immediate constituents as well as their “political fitness” in terms of their capacity to deliver.
One thing for sure with the dynamics of the Supreme Court verdict which forces many state Governors in Nigeria to conduct local government polls against their wishes, no Governor not even Dauda Lawal will allow the post of an elected council Chairman to go to someone who is not extremely if not a hundred % loyal to him.
I think there is no superior argument to this!!.
Secondly, I doubt if up to this stage the Governor does not have his “anointed aspirants” that he feels are better up to do the job for him simply because he wants to continue with the policy plans he has started.
Many can begin to prove this hypothesis when analysis of some aspirants is made assessing their political behaviors, their verbal/political pronouncements as well as open threat to the Governor and his government.
One of the aspirants at Talatar Mafara Kabiru classic for instance just last week dropped an open political threat to Governor Dauda Lawal accusing him of not being fair to his supporters from Talatar Mafara.
How open can Governor Dauda Lawal allow Classic to pick the party ticket and contest for the post of the Chairman of Talatar Mafara local governments?
This is a debatable question.
If he the answer to these questions is in the positive, what will happen if Classic eventually wins? What will be the fate of the relationship between himself and the same Governor, whom he accused of not being fair to him and his supporters? can he surrender his loyalty to the Governor he no longer trusts?
The answer to this political hypothesis can be in the positive because nothing is impossible with God!
As for those aspirants that resign their respective appointments and went ahead to pick their forms, how safe are they?
From the information available in the public space, the majority of them do not consult the Governor who is their immediate political principal before they decided to step out of his government unceremoniously.
Is the Governor happy about their decision? one may not tell exactly but as the tradition provides if the Governor can pick you out of millions of his supporters courtesies required that you go back to him and tell him why you are exiting and ask for his blessings.
Like the popular argument goes, will the decision of some of those that resigns their appointments not resulted to “throwing the baby with the bath water? No one can answer that question for now.
Now the ball is in the pitch with too many over-ambitious players anxious to play the game while the position of the referee is yet not known.
But the fact remains that there is too much confusion to contend with by the PDP as a party, as many more over-ambitious aspirants are all out for “political fight-to-finish”.
In Gusau for instance there are close to (10) aspirants of council Chairman under the PDP, in Kaura there are about (7), Mafara about (5) Tsafe also about (5) one can continue to mention more and more again.
What may come out of this political struggle? Only God can say for now it is like “a political movie on rolling status” which only time can judge the number of episode contained in it.
