Gunmen are said to have abducted Prof. Oguejiofor Ujam, a senior lecturer at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), along the Ugwuogo-Opi-Nsukka road.
The Dean of the School of General Studies, Prof. Ujam, was kidnapped on this infamous route on Sunday morning.
The incident has sparked fear and concern among the academic community at UNN, with many calling for increased security measures along that road. Authorities have launched an investigation into the abduction in hopes of securing the safe release of Prof. Ujam.
This incidence comes after a similar kidnapping where a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official, Emeason Chima, was similarly abducted along the same road on Saturday.
Although the specifics of Prof. Ujam’s kidnapping are yet unknown, it is known that he works in the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry.
The accused kidnappers have not yet approached his family to seek a ransom. Calls to the police command spokeswoman have not been returned, making attempts to get a response fruitless.
