Not fewer than (64) people have been suspected killed as a result of boat accident that occurred in Gummi local government area of Zamfara state according to locals.
Report indicates that, the locally made boat was conveying about (70) farmers when it crashed while trying to cross a river to access their farms.
Immediately after the incident, authorities commences rescue operation which resulted to the rescue of only (6) people within 3hrs.
It was reported that, over (900) local farmers used to cross the river on a daily basis to access their farms while only two locally made boats were available, a circumstance that resulted in overloading of the boats at all time.
Investigation is still on to ascertain the extent of number of victims lost to the incident.
