AFTER SEVERAL YEARS OF AGITATIONS, GOVERNOR BELLO MATAWALLE FINALLY SIGNS ZAMFARA BPP BILL IN TO LAW

Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has signed in to law three executive bills passed by the State Assembly.


They are the Consolidated Revenue Law, the law on establishment of Bureau for Public Procurement and the law establishing and  management of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


According to the Statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment Media and Communication Malam Zailani Bappa said with the new development, the consolidated revenue law will seek to improve the revenue generation drive of the state government both at the center and at the local government areas level in specific.


“Under this law, the appropriate agency will identify taxable organisations, businesses and individual entrepreneurs and enforce the payment of same tax appropriately under experienced tax administrators” Bappa added.


“The law provides detailed provisions by which leakages in government revenue will be blocked while appropriate collections will always accrue duly to the coffers of the government’s”. 


As for the law establishing Bureau for Public Procurement it was conceived to regulate public procurement procedures through strict adherence to all procurement chains and procedures 

“The body responsible for this will embark on proper education and awareness campaign to potential contractors as it applies standard procedures and guidelines such as to ensure  proper certification of bidding companies and and tender procedures” Bappa added. 


The body will also ensure  tender notice is timely placed with specifications and requirements clearly spelt out for the interested companies that intends to bid for government contracts at all time.

 
As for the SDG law it was design to accelerate the sustainable economic growth development by achieving higher level of production through technological innovation as well as achieve the 17 goals set out under the law. 


“These goals included among others, the eradication of hunger and achieving food security, ensure healthy lives of citizens and the promotion of good hygiene, provision of access to justice, building of resilient infrastructure and sustainable industrialisation” Bappa Added. 


After signing the bills into law, Governor Matawalle expressed his optimism that the new laws will turn around the fortunes of the state Government and the people and urged those to be bestowed with any parts of the  responsiblity to work deligently for the much desired results.
