The Zamfara State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party has challenged its All Progressives Congress counterpart to produce evidence to substantiate its allegation that the state Commissioner for INEC was allegedly issued a bribe of N250M to rig the scheduled Zamfara re-run election.

The spokesperson of the PDP in Zamfara, Haliru Andi, stated on Tuesday that the allegation by the APC was a calculated attempt to tarnish the image of INEC and the PDP.

“We challenge the APC to provide any shred of evidence to back this wild allegation; otherwise, it should be regarded as nothing but fiction borne out of frustration.”

The PDP also disputed the claim that only government house personnel would be deployed for the re-run election, describing it as both laughable and false.

“The PDP has no control over federal security agencies, including the Police, DSS, and Civil Defence. It is therefore ridiculous for the APC to insinuate that the PDP will dictate their roles. What the APC fears is simply the presence of security to stop their usual thuggery and intimidation of voters.”

On the allegation that BVAS may not likely be used during the scheduled re-run election, the PDP stated that “at no time did the PDP or the Zamfara State Government hold any meeting with the INEC REC, let alone plot to exclude BVAS from the rerun.”

“BVAS remains the only credible instrument of accreditation and transmission of results, and our party has always stood for due process, free, fair, and credible elections. The APC’s attempt to create doubts about BVAS is nothing but a ploy to lay grounds for rejecting their imminent defeat.”

“The entire contents of the APC’s statement are nothing but fabrications aimed at blackmailing INEC and creating unnecessary tension ahead of the rerun.”

“The reality is simple: the APC is anxious because the people of Kaura Namoda South have rejected them, as was clearly demonstrated during the main election , where the PDP gained overwhelming support. Rather than preparing to face the people in the rerun, the APC has resorted to propaganda, lies, and excuses.”

“The Peoples Democratic Party wishes to assure the people of Zamfara State that we are fully committed to credible elections and will never engage in any action that undermines democracy.”

“We call on INEC and all security agencies to ignore these unfounded allegations and focus on ensuring a peaceful, free, and transparent rerun.”

“We also appeal to our numerous supporters to remain calm, law-abiding, and resolute. Victory is certain through the ballot, not through intimidation or blackmail.”
