I have listened to the arguments of Zamfara former Governor Abdulazeez Yari in his interview with Awal Janyau of BBC Hausa service on their fresh request to Governor Bello Matawalle for sharing of political and party positions on the ratio of 50/50 and I said to myself all of them have opened their inner heart now.
What do I mean? I have said it time and time again that both camps are raising their eyebrow for their selfish and personal gain.
I would have expected the condition of those in Yari camp to include forcing the Governor to declare state of emergency on education, recruit more teachers, enhance their salaries and wages as well as provide state of the earth educational infrastructures for the educational transformation of the state.
I expected also that part of their conditions is to ask the Governor to enhance security in the state by taking measures that would help minimize the bloodshed, tears, and sorrow that befalls hundreds of families in different parts of Zamfara State.
The least I expect from their conditions is to ask the Governor to release funds for supply of drugs to hospitals, and equipped our dilapidated secondary health facilities with all the infrastructures and equipments needed for the common person of Zamfara to access quality health care.
For Governor Matawalle, I expect that part of his conditions is to ask Yari’s camp, how do you support me to revive agriculture and secure as many grants as possible from the World Bank, Central Bank, Bank of Industry and other donor agencies so that our lost glory of “farming is our pride” could be revived.
I also expected Governor Bello Matawalle to make part of his conditions to include, how do you help me to revive our state-owned textile, ailing cotton ginerries and other manufacturing industries so that job can be created for thousands of unemployed breadwinners.
But like what the white man use to say about Africa “effort put in vain”, this wicked political formula of 50/50 is em phasing more on how to share the booty of political and government positions.
The formula has reaffirmed our earlier positions that these crops of politicians do not care about the common man on the street of Gusau, Gummi, Anka or Shinkafi but rather what they are going to accumulate for themselves and their families.
I don’t think reviving education is part of their concern because their children are abroad studying in the most expensive capital schools.
I don’t think securing Zamfara is part of their concern although, day-in-day-out innocent persons who are on the street looking for their legitimate earnings are being abducted for ransom and these politicians are only interested in holding political meetings and permutations.
I don’t think reviving health sector is their priority since they have access to public resources where they steal?? And go to the best hospitals in Dubai and Germany for medical attention.
I think it is time for people of Zamfara to realize the danger ahead and take the best decision of aging out all those who have been part of Zamfara political journey from 1999 to date. This is an absolute necessity we must not avoid.
I said this without any apology, “They are the problem of Zamfara state” and “aging them out of political landscape of Zamfara is the best cure”.
If we allow them to continue in the political mainstream of Zamfara we would all shade tears at the long run.
I used to give example of former Governor Yari who is the recent or immediate past Governor of Zamfara State that “he has done what he wanted to do with the Zamfara State resources rightly or wrong?? and he used the opportunity of being a Governor to became who he wants to become and leaves” but the question is what is he living behind for Zamfara people, liabilities, political crises or insecurity?
No doubt he has done his very best but left behind a failed system which the current Governor lacks the requisite talent to fix, this is my opinion and I am sure it would form the majority opinion of average Zamfara person
It is time for Zamfara people to understand that we all need to come together to think beyond the box, how? By changing our political leadership recruitment strategy,, it is absolutely a “wrong and weak one”.
I argue about Zamfara being on time bomb sometime early this year during a conversation but an elderly father Ahmad Zabarma cautioned that “he doubted if the time bomb has not exploded”?
“Yes it has defending on how interprete or analyse the situation in Zamfara”.
It is a most if we want to fix Zamfara State we have to stop putting the slightest hope on Yarima, Mahmuda, Abdulazeez Yari or even the present Governor Bello Matawalle or their blind political supporters “they are all part of the problem” we have to clear before Zamfara can move forward.
The earlier we understand this reality, the better for us.
May God almighty save Zamfara State from collapsing
