The Nigeria Inland Waterways Agency’s (NIWA) most recent managing director, George Moughalu, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a letter delivered to the party on Tuesday and made accessible to media in Awka, Mr. Moghalu tendered his resignation.
The ruling party’s former national auditor stated that he resigned for personal reasons.
With effect from today, August 26, 2024, I formally tell you of my decision to resign from the All Progressives Congress, APC, and offer you the best wishes of my lovely family.
“I sincerely hope and anticipate that we will all keep up the friendly bond we have established over the years,” he stated.
One of the original members of the APC, Mr. Moughalu announced in June 2024 that he was quitting the ruling party. In his resignation letter, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the party’s growth. Mr. Moghalu also mentioned his intention to focus on personal projects and explore new opportunities outside of politics.
Before the ruling party was formed in 2014, he had been a member of the ANPP and then the CPC. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities and experiences he gained during his time with the party. Mr. Moughalu did not disclose his future political plans after leaving the APC.
