A non-governmental organization Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development has lamented that high-profile cases related to armed banditry are not professionally handled by state’s Attorneys general as a result of the poor remuneration paid to these categories of people.
The group in a statement signed by its Executive Director Sani Abdullahi Wamban Shinkafi insisted that “he poor condition of service as it relates to these judicial officers affect their performance, particularly the frequent release of terrorism suspects with questionable cases”.
According to the group, some unpatriotic security agents aides and abet criminal bandits in the North West geopolitical zone.
The group also argued that some traditional rulers, state legislators, local government sole administrators, members of the state’s vigilante groups have been accused of facilitating the release of many bandit criminals on bail, which eventually frustrated their successful arraignment.
“Some high-profile cases are not judiciously handled by States Attorney General and judges. High Court, Magistrate Court and Sharia Court judges are not well paid”.
