Legacy newspaper has quoted Governor Dauda Lawal to have announced that the tenure of the 14 council sole administrators will end by 23rd October 2024 and that arrangement is on the top gear by the state electoral body to conduct local government elections in line with the recent Supreme Court verdict.
An extension of the tenure of the current sole administrators has not been announced by the government yet.
By implications, the council secretaries or Directors of the Personnel Management (DPM’s) may likely take over pending the conduct of the scheduled council poll.
The ruling People’s Democratic Party has been on with the series of activities a head of the scheduled polls.
Aspirants of both council chairmen and councilors from the PDP have been picking nomination forms with the intention to contents for chairmen and councilors of their respective local government councils.
All Progressive Congress from reliable information is considering the option of joining the council race.
On Sunday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mal. Yusuf Idris Gusau has cried that, the party was not informed of the planned council polls by the state independent electoral commission.
The council sole administrators would be serving their last day in office today.
