Some suspected bandits armed with deadly weapons had invaded low-cost area of Talatar Mafara in Zamfara state and kidnapped fifteen persons.
Those kidnapped are alleged to be laborers working for a construction company, TRIACTA Nigeria.
A source who confided in this medium explained that the bandits entered Talatar Mafara around 11:00pm and invaded an apartment where the staff of the construction company are hosted.
They kidnapped fifteen persons, but one of them who tried to escape along the way was shot severally by the bandits, and he is currently hospitalized.
Three other abductees also escaped from captivity, while the rest of (11) other abductees are now in the hand of the bandits.
The source said if not for the intervention of the security agencies, the operation by the bandits in Talatar Mafara would have been a pathetic one hence the sound of gunshots exchanged between the bandits and security agencies were scary.
He said even though the heavy presence of security forces scared the bandits to run out of the town, the sound of gunshots ringing the air up to 3:00am on Thursday made many residents to remain indoors due to the fear of the unknown.
Effort made to speak to the Police Spokesperson for Zamfara ASP Yazeed Muhammad proved abortive as he replied to the Managing Editor via a text message that he was in a meeting and that he will call back.
