Suspected armed bandits have invaded a daily prayer mosque at Tazame community in Bungudu local government area of Zamfara state and killed two people.
Among those killed include the Deputy daily prayer Imam and other person who attempted to escape from the venue of the siege.
The Chief Imam of the mosque sustained injuries including a fracture in the leg, and he has since been hospitalized.
According to a source, the bandits invaded the mosque around 6:00am on Tuesday while people were reviewing religious books and asked everyone to remain seated.
They succeeded in abducting nine persons from within the mosque, but later released three persons assuming there were more than two persons from two different families.
He also stated that on their way out of the town they succeeded in abducting another set of three women who were on their way to the farms.
He also stated that they rustled some unspecified number of cows and moved away with them to their target destination.
Asked if the security operatives arrived to offer help, he said some armed soldiers later came more than an hour after the bandits left the community.
Tazame is a community just a kilometer away from the ancient city of Kwatarkwashi town.
Police could not be reach for comment as at the time of filing this report.
