A lawsuit to remove Abdullahi Ganduje from his position as the All Progressives Congress’s National Chairman has been dismissed by an Abuja Federal High Court (APC).
Judge Inyang Ekwo said in a Monday morning ruling that the APC North Central Group’s lawsuit was premature and concerned a matter that falls under the political party’s international purview.
Additionally, Justice Ekwo held that the plaintiff lacks legal ability to file the lawsuit because they are not recognized as juristic persons by the legal system.
The judge further found that prior to coming before the court, the APC North Central Group did not investigate internal channels for amicable dispute resolution.
Justice Ekwo believed that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the APC appointed its officers, and that this was an internal party matter that no court should become involved in.
The plaintiff claimed that Ganduje’s appointment by the APC Chairman had breached the party’s constitution and had filed the lawsuit, marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/599/2024, to that effect, among other things.
The lawsuit argued that while the North Central region was designated for the party’s Chairmanship position, the immediate past Chairman of the APC should likewise be replaced by someone recruited from the region.
