The Chairman of the Governing Council of University of Ibadan Chief Bisi Akande has forfeited whatever his entitlement may be as Pro-Chancellor of the University.
Chief Bisi Akande in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen insisted that whatever his entitlement may be the University Registrar may apply for it and use same to support other undergraduates that may be in need of assistance to continue with their studies.
The statement reads “if the position is entitled to any allowances, for example for attending any meeting if the Governing council and it’s committees in accordance with the prior approval of the federal government of Nigeria you will be kind enough to assist me in applying for any payment which may be due to me from such allowances solely for of such undergraduates of this University who are offering science courses namely in mathematic, physics, chemistry, and biology only”.
“I expect the benefit to be in kind of endowment for something like annual scholarships or any form of awards to cover cost of accommodation and other approved fees charged by the University for those deserving students”.
He urged that the Dean of student affairs or any other officer be assigned to handle such task if any of such allowances are made available.
“There is already incorporated Adebisi Akande Foundation established for that purpose which will augment any shortfall arising from any such commitments incurred from the award”.
The letter by Chief Bisi Akande dated 21/08/2023 was addressed to the registrar of the University, Mr. Ganiyu Oke Saliu.
