Non governmental organization Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG) have called on other state Govenors especially those battling with insecurity to emulate the peace initiative of Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State arguing that it has helped in solving critical aspect of the security challenges bidevelling the state.

Addressing a press conference in Gusau on Thursday, the President of the groups, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic said, everybody in Zamfara knows how deeply the sunk in to crises and how the crises almost consumss the state before the coming of the Matawalle’s government.

“When Matawalle came to power, the state was almost grounded due to high level of insecurity as a result of banditry, but with the introduction of peace initiative by the Governor, everybody can see that, peace is now gradually returning to the state”.

He maintained that, if the peace initiative introduced by Governor Matawalle was equally initiated or emulated by other state governors the insecurity faced by Nigeria would have been addressed.

Comrade Dominic also called on the Federal Government to give Governor Matawalle the maximum support he neeee to ensure that peace has fully returned to the state.

He added that, security is sensitive to ensuring a safer business environment noting that, nobody could do business if there is no peace in the land, as such, he appealed to all and sundry to support the peace initiative of Governor Matawalle.

He also commended the RUGA project embarked often by Governor Matawalle, describing it as a welcome development

He maintained that, the Federal Government has also wanted to build RUGA settlements across the country but had to abandon the idea due to the outcry of some people who didn’t mean well for the country.

“When the Federal Government pronounced its plan to introduce RUGA settlements, the entire country was thrown into chaos. A lot of interpretations were given to the initiative, but for us as civil society, we saw it as the best initiative”.

“We have severally defended the RUGA project. The Ruga project we have seen in Zamfara is a model of what we have in mind”.

We come to understand that through the RUGA project the issue of farmers-fulani clash will be resolved.

“I commended Governor Matawalle for the courage and for taking bold step of going ahead with the RUGA initiative after everybody rejected the idea.
