The Chairman of the Nigerian Barr. Association Gusau branch Barr. Junaidu Abubakar Mafara said several shariah courts were shutdown in Zamfara state over insecurity.
Barr. Junaidu who stated this when he featured in a special interview with Thunder Blowers said, for some times now some shariah courts in Zamfara were closed while others were moved to safer places because of the lingering insecurity rocking the state.
“We have warned our members to desist from handling cases involving some areas considered to be danger zones because no one can guaranty their safety”.
“We have told our members if a client engage you to handle a hundred thousand naira brief at a Sharia court that is located within the danger zone they should not accept it because if a member is abducted, can a hundred thousand naira be enough to rescue an abducted member as ransom?”.
Concerning the killing of one of their member by some suspected killers Friday last week Barr Junaidu said, it was surprising that gunshots were fired severally during the attack on late Barr. Azza at an area where there is mobile base headquarters, military barrack FRSC state head office and DSS headquarters but none of the security personals within these outfits could offer help to rescue the decease.
He noted that the association was deeply shock with the loss of Barr. Azza whom he described as humble and promising member of the association who has done his best in serving the state.
He said they have written to the police and SSS asking for thorough investigation into the circumstance leading to the gruesome murder of the lawyer.
He also said the union commended the Benue state Governor for showing his concern and calling for thorough investigation into the tragedy, noting this was their position as Nigerian Barr. Association.
He lamented that since the occurrence of the incident, not even a press release was issued by Zamfara state government to show its concern over the tragedy that befalls the NBA as a body.
He also called on those in the position of authority to be apt to their responsibility and ensure that the peace has to return to the state.
