There was a mild drama at the Zamfara Governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Sokoto as defense team insisted that the tribunal shall allow parties to file their arguments respecting the objections on some documents to be admitted by the petitioners separate from the final written address.

D. D. Dodo (SAN) counsel to Dauda Lawal, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN) counsel to the PDP and M. I. Dikko (SAN) for the INEC all argued that they may likely object to the admissibility of some documents to be tendered by Governor Bello Matawalle and APC during the trial.

They argued that though the court of appeal practice direction allows for filing of only (40) pages as the final written address, practice direction allows the court the discretion to extend the clause by given parties the option to file above forty pages.

Usman O. Sule (SAN) objected to the prayer, but the tribunal ruled that based on understanding of all parties in the matter, the defense team are given the window to file their arguments in respect of the objections to the admissibility of the documents to be tendered by Bello Matawalle within the scope of another ten pages separate from final written address
