A retired Director of Education in Zamfara Alh Samaila Mudi Tsafe has called for scrapping of Zamfara State Feeding Commission even as he urged Governor Bello Matawalle to handed over students feeding programme back to the principals.
Alh Samaila Mudi Tsafe who was speaking as a guest at the Thunder Blowers TV show “Tiryan-Tiryan” said, it is unfortunate the former regime of Abdulazeez Yari Abubakar created the scrapping of feeding programme from school principals deliberately just to frustrate them as custodians of the pupils.
He explained that, if the allegations that some principals are conniving to perpetuate scandals in the feeding programme are true and genuine, the government should find an option of enforcing sanction on any principal indicted but explained that it is very unfair for the government to take away feeding completely from the principals.
“If government can entrust the discipline and moral upbringing of a child to a principal saddled him with the responsibility of managing his education, health condition and moral upbringing then why is government not comfortable in entrusting the feeding of that child to the principal” Samaila Mudi asked.
He said as at now feeding officers are more powerful than the principals noting that there was a time a whole Commissioner for Education in the state ordered for closure of a school while a feeding officer asked for its reopening.
He urged the government of Zamfara State to quickly reverse the system and encourage principals to do the right thing in handling the feeding exercise noting that such is the only step that can guarantee efficiency in the system.
