Residents of Jangebe have failed to heed to the directive of the state government which enforces 24 hours curfew in the area after protest against state government officials on Wednesday.

A resident of the area who confided on this medium said, people ignore the directive and go about their businesses because they see no reason why curfew should be enforced on them.

“We have committed no crime and to the best of our belief, we were treated unfairly by the government bandits invaded us, abducted our children and yet it is asking us to remain indoor what type of decision is this, he asked?.

Another source who preferred anonymity said “even the government knows it is not fair to us, that is why it cannot use maximum force to enforce the curfew on us”.

He added that there are no signs of security to show that there is curfew everybody is going about his normal business, and we have left the rest of what happened to God our creator” he added.

But in a reaction to the decision of the government an APC chieftain and former federal House of Representatives member Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu faulted the decision of the government as “anti-citizen” noting that a serious government cannot enforce curfew on people of Jangebe where over two hundred of their children have been abducted, two of their children were shot to dead.

“No serious government can enforce curfew on people whose over two hundred teenage girls have been abducted, two of their children were also shot dead by agents of the state government”.

He said the declaration of curfew on people of Jangebe by Zamfara state government is a clear lack of understanding of what political governance is all about.

He said people of Jangebe deserves sympathy not hardship and that anything that will push them harder in the state of uncertainty will amount to further political frustration.

But in reaction to the comment by the APC chieftain Abdulmalik Zannan Bungudu, Zamfara State Commissioner for Information Sulaiman Tunau Anka said, people should not politicise the enforcement of curfew by the state government because the decision was taken in the best interest of preventing the outbreak of law and order.

He said it was unfair for the people of Jangebe to resort to attacking government officials and journalists since the overall effort is to see to the safe recovery of the abducted children.

On the non-compliance with the enforcement of the curfew, Tunau said, to the best of his knowledge residents are strictly observing the curfew as instructed by the state government noting that it will be relaxed immediately normalcy returned
