The bandits invaded the Magarya the hometown of Zamfara State Speaker Nasiru Muazu Magarya on the evening of Wednesday and abducted his biological father, his stepmother, and four other persons.
According to a source, before their arrival at Magarya they have also invaded Kaiwa Lamba, Jinkirawa, and Sabon Fegi villages.
“They invaded Magarya town around 4:00pm when people were observing Asr prayers and beings their operation”.
They abducted the father of the Speaker Nasiru Magarya, his stepmother and four others who are still in captivity.
As at the time of filing this report, no official statement was issued either by the government or the state House of assembly.
One of the survivors a staff of international humanitarian agency told this medium on confidence that, he was driving to Gusau from Shinkafi few meters to Kaiwa Lamba when the bandits fired live amunitions at the two vehicles that were ahead of him before he succeeded in maneuvering his car and turned to Shinkafi.
Another source, a commercial car driver told this medium that an eighteen seater bus has been brought from Kaiwa Lamba to Gusau central motor park with multiple bullet holes but could not explain the where about of the passengers
In a related development, on Tuesday, another group of bandits invaded Moriki town also in Zurmi local government area of the state and conducted house to house search and operations.
The source who confided on this medium said, they conducted operation from Yarmakera to Barza area in Moriki and carted away undisclosed number of cattle and other livestock.
Zamfara Police Spokes Person SP Shehu Muhammd has confirmed the incident and assured that the state police commissioner Hussaini Rabiu has deployed adequate police tactical squad with a view to rescuing the abducted persons.
The Spokes’ person of Zamfara House of Assembly Mustapha Jafaru Kaura could say they are yet to release official statement on the issue as the speaker and other members of the state house of assembly are going to hold meeting to deliberate on the matter by 2:00pm today.
