According to Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), President Bola Tinubu has authorized a N10 billion Youth Development Fund to empower young people in the FCT.

The fund is aimed at providing financial support for youth entrepreneurship and skill development programs in the region. This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to investing in the future of Nigerian youth.

This was revealed by Wike on Monday during the opening of the War College/Army Checkpoint Road and other auxiliary roads in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, which are being upgraded.

According to him, the youth empowerment initiative, which is scheduled to be launched on Thursday, is consistent with the youth empowerment policy of the current administration.

The minister claimed that the president’s emphasis on women and young people made the gift possible.

“The Youth Development Secretariat and the Women Affairs Secretariat were established by Mr. President, who also named a young person to lead the youth secretariat.

In the FCT’s history, this has never occurred. In order to support the growth of the youth, Mr. President also requested that a Youth Development Fund be established.

To observe how the youth will be empowered, Mr. President has approved N10 billion to begin with,” he remarked.

Wike urged citizens, especially the young, to keep supporting the Tinubu-led government, claiming that the sum had been included in the FCT’s supplemental budget, things would improve, he claimed.

We are glad that there are indications that things may improve,” he continued.

After Tinubu approved the creation of the youth development secretariats in July, Abdullahi Ango was reportedly appointed as the first Mandate Secretary in August. The creation of the youth development secretariats is a step in the right direction toward empowering the youth and enhancing their future prospects, and these initiatives have the potential to significantly impact the lives of young people in Nigeria with the right funding and support.
