Federal government is set to begin the distribution of 24,000 metric tons of grains to various category of Nigerians as part of the effort to cushion the effects of hardship encountered by Nigerians.
Minister of Agriculture Sen. Abubakar Kyari stated this via his verified Twitter page on Monday.
In the statement the Senator said the federal government will roll out the programme using National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and DSS.
He added that the essence of using these agencies is to ensure that the grains have reached the locations they are designated for.
“We shall commence the distribution of 42,000 metric tons of grains, as approved by Mr. President, across the 36 states of the federation as one of the programs to be rolled-out this week”.
“Furthermore, 58,500 metric tons of milled rice from mega rice millers will also be released into the market for stabilization”.
