Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has declared that when he took over the mantle of leadership of Zamfara state as Governor, the government he inherited could not account for the where about of N250 billion naira.
The Governor stated this while in an interview with Channels TV programme politics today.
He recalled that EFCC had earlier than now raised an allegation that the former Governor Bello Matawalle had stolen the sum of N70b from the state government treasury.
But he said after he came on board he realized that what EFCC claims is a child’s play.
He said when he took over power in Zamfara State there was no money that is up to N4M in Zamfara State government account
He also alleged that Matawalle has left a backlog of salary of four months for his government as well non-payment of WAEC/NECO fees.
He argued further that apart from settling the N1.2b backlog of debt for NECO his government has to also settled the sum of N1.6b for WAEC.
He also insisted that when he came on board he had to settle KEDCO the sum of N1.3b, hence the government house and other government parastatals were disconnected from the national grid.
