Zamfara state police command has arrested some foreign nationals from Burkina Faso and Niger Republic who are into illegal mining of solid minerals in Zamfara state.
State police commissioner Muhammad Dalijan stated this on Wednesday while parading the suspects before the press on Wednesday.
He said three of the suspects were from Burkina Faso at Anka local government exactly at a location where late bandit kingpin Halilu Sububu was operating.
He added that, the suspects were also arrested with some substances including CNI which they usually used in the illegal mining activities.
CNI is a deadly substance that is considered dangerous and which can be used in illegal mining activities.
They were not Nigerians they came all the way from Burkina Faso for the illegal mining activities.
The police Commissioner insisted that, effort is being made to ascertain where they are keeping their illegal weapons alleging that they might have surely came into the country with deadly weapons.
It was also alleged that the suspects have hijacked the mining pitch owned by Mr. Habibi Sububu and that investigation is being made to ascertain their relationship with the late bandit kingpin.
The CP stated that ten additional illegal miners have been arrested in Talatar Mafara with another chemical substances used in illegal mining.
The command also stated that, other foreign nationals from Niger Republic have been arrested with (3) AK47 rifles inclusive of ammunition.
The police Commissioner lamented how foreign nationals are crossing into the Nigerians borders illegaly with the sole aim of committing crimes.
Dalijan emphasized the strengths of the executive order banning illegal mining in Nigeria.
