An elder statesman Dr. Bashir Kurfi has told BBC Hausa service that in Katsina bandits now ask husbands and parents to bring their daughters and wives to the forest for them to be raped.
He stated in the interview that, there was a time when forty abducted women were massively raped by nine bandits in Katsina State.
He said when the victims were taken to the FMC Katsina, the hospital officials instructed the relations to move them to VVF center for advance medical attention.
He further said, sometimes they came to the village to ask residents to move out of their homes in the broad daylight and raped their wives and children.
When asked about children going to schools, Dr. Kurfi said, in most of the villages controlled by bandits in Katsina the schools were taken over by them and converted them to residential accommodation.
He blamed those saddled with the responsibility of ensuring internal security in Katsina for not being too honest with the responsibility, describing their attitude as demeaning to ending this menace
