The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has announced that the state will commence the payment of the N70,000 minimum wage from next month.
Soludo disclosed this at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre in Awka on Thursday, while meeting with all principals and headteachers in public primary and secondary schools across the state.
The governor also announced that, from next week, a free education policy will be available to senior students in all public schools in the state.
He further directed that students in senior classes who have already paid their N5,000 fees for this term should be refunded, while enumerating some of his administration’s strides in human capital development and promising to do more.
“Anambra State will start paying the N70,000 minimum wage from next month,” he declared. Seniors in all Anambra public schools will have access to a free education policy starting next week.
I promise that despite the mandatory resource limitation, our administration will keep up its relentless efforts to fulfill the mandate.
“We also intend to begin paying the new minimum wage of N70,000 starting next month.” We pledge to increase our efforts in human development, and senior class students who have already paid their N5,000 fees for this term should receive a refund.
