Zamfara State Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has inaugurated the State Economic Management Team saddled with the responsibility of coming up with sound macro and micro economic policies and programmes that will enhance sustainable development of the state.
The newly inaugurated economic committee is to be chaired by the state Deputy Governor Mahadi Aliyu who is to lead the steering committee while the technical component of the committee is to be headed by Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Gayari the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry for Budget and Economic Planning.
The Committee was inaugurated by Governor Bello Matawalle at the state government house Gusau on Wednesday
The governor charged the economic team to provide for the state alternative ways that will raise hope for the economic development of the state especially during this hard time of economic crises.
The Governor further said, his reason for constituting the state economic team which is first of its kind in the history of the state is to make the state more economically viable and create diverse ways for alternative source of revenue.
He challenged the committee to also provide alternative ways of harnessing agricultural and solid minerals potentials for the development of the state.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Economic Management Team and the State Deputy Governor Barr. Mahdi Aliyu Gusau said he is convinced that Zamfara State has the potential of becoming a major producer of food crops and lead in solid mineral exploration and industrial development in the country.
He assured that his team is ready to develop unique and sustainable economic plan that is of global standard and capable of reviving the State economy.
Barr Mahdi Aliyu also thanked the Governor for finding them worthy of handling the task and assured of their total commitment to deliver to that effect.
