The 21 local government chairmen who were elected on Saturday were sworn in by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris on Monday.
It was announced that the state electoral commission had proclaimed the All Progressives Congress candidates the winners of the poll.
The governor and other state officials attended the swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi.
The elected chairmen, whose terms had been extended to three years by the state House of Assembly earlier in the year, were sworn in by state Chief Judge Justice Umar Abubakar.
The governor assigned the chairmen the responsibility of living above board by making sure that the benefits of democracy are distributed to the people.
The governor has sworn in new councillors and urged them to immediately begin their jobs and impact their communities. He promised to work with them 100% and ordered the release of Hilux operational vehicles to the new chairman. The governor also urged everyone to carry out their responsibilities and ensure the effective commencement of work in all wards in the state.
