Zamfara State Police Command said, it has succeeded in arresting a suspected gun runners who had been conniving with some syndicates to be supplying weapons especially AK 47 rifles to bandits.
State Police Commissioner Mr. Abutu Yaro declared this during a press conference in Gusau on Friday.
He gave the names of the suspects arrested as Ibrahim Adamu and Tsoho Dandela while a notorious bandit by the name “Dogo” is currently at large.
Mr. Abubtu Yaro said, the police command arrested the principal suspect one Ibrahim Adamu Gado after receiving credible information that, himself and one Tsoho Dandela all of them bandits from Kangon Marafa village of Bungudu Local Government concluded plan to purchase AK 47 rifles from one Dogo a notorious bandit residing in a bush under Zurmi local government.
He added that, a total of one million and seventy thousand naira (1,070,000) were recovered from his custody during the operation.
Mr Abutu further said, during interrogation, the suspect confessed to have collected the money from Tsoho Dandela with the mandate to taking it to Dogo in Zurmi forest.
He further told journalists that the investigation is on the progress aimed at apprehending other suspects and their partners in crime, and they would be charged in court.
