A seasoned academician, administrator and a vibrant social activist, Alh (Hon) Sani Garba Gusau, otherwise known as Sani General, was born precisely on 7th of February, 1958 in Gusau, currently the capital of Zamfara State.
Hon. Sani Garba started his western education in 1966 at the Sabon Fegi Primary School, Gusau which he completed in 1972. From 1971 to 1976, he attended Government Secondary School Gusau, and had passed out with encouraging result
With the zeal and commitment to further his education, Hon. Sani Garba proceeded to the polytechnic of Sokoto state in 1979 to pursue a course in building studies which he wrapped off in 1981. He also attended the University of South Dokoto , USA from 1982 to 1984 and Norfolk State University, USA between 1984 and 1985 respectively. He holds an M.A degree in Program Administration
Hon. Sani Garba joined the civil service first at NYSC Polytechnic K/Namoda where he served from 1985 to 1986, served as a lecturer || at the Sokoto State Polytechnic, Sokoto from 1986 to 1987.
In 1988, he became a Nigerian technical aide personnel when between 1988 and 1987, he was sent and served in Tanzania and Lusaka, Zambia.
On return from the clarion call back to Nigeria, Hon. Sani Garba was appointed Senior Assistant Registrar with the Sokoto State Polytechnic, Sokoto, a position he held from 1990 to 1993
In consideration of his commitments and determination to his civil responsibility, Sani Garba was promoted in 1993 to the status of the Deputy Registrar of the Sokoto State Polytechnic, while in 1994, he became the Deputy Registrar of College of Education (COE),
His wealth of experience in civil service had gone beyond state and national service as in 1994, he became a volunteer of the United National in South Africa where he served up to 1995
At this juncture, Sani Garba felt that having served in various places both at the state level and beyond,it was good to shift ground, hence he transferred his services to Zamfara State, his home state, and was eventually appointed as Assistant Chief personnel officer on GL 13 posted to Government House as Director of protocol matters.
In view of his track record of performance and resilience in protocol matters,he was in 1996 appointed the Director General on protocol matters, a position he held until later in the year, when he was elevated to the status of a full pledged permanent Secretary, while in 2003, he vowed out of active civil service.
All hope not lost, but moving from grace to grace. And as a very resourceful personality, Sani Garba was graciuosly considered suitable for the position of a member of the state executive council, hence he was appointed as a commissioner in 2007.
Academic and professional experience combined, Hon. Sani was considered noteworthy and was made a member of the Governing council, University of Ilorin, Kwara State and he served the council between 2008 and 2011
In 2011, he was again re~appointed as a commissioner, a position he held until 2015, when he was made a Special Adviser (SA) to the state government which served from 2015 to 2019, respectively
In consideration of his vast experience in civil and public matters, dedication to duties and track record of service, Hon.Sani garba assessed and figured out not only suitable,but competent enough to handle national assignment.
It was on his premise, recently he was appointed as a board member at the federal character commission, Abuja. What a deserving appointment.
Hon.Sani Garba is a cool and patriotic gentleman, hence his recent appointment as a board member in the federal character commission will be another window opportunity for Zamfara state.
He is widely known for his kindness, generously and above all patriotism. So, as a patriotic person, people of zamfara state will stand the opportunity to benefit from his representation as it has been the hope of every citizen of Zamfara state, that Sani Garba will optimistically drive home some inspiration
