HOW GOV. DAUDA LAWAL SETTLES N2.312B GRATUITY OF 1,746 RETIRED CIVIL SERVANTS

Zamfara state government has since commences the payment of retirement benefits to various categories of civil servants from state and local governments as part of the commitment to dowsing hardship and tension among these categories of people that actively served the state for (35) years.

Before the coming of the present administration, some civil servants that retired since 2011 could not get their retirement benefits settled by successive governments.

Governor Dauda Lawal took the bold step of clearing the backlog of this retirement benefits running into billions of naira.

According to the statement by one of the Governor’s media aides Sulaiman Bala Idris the total number of these retirees has reached up to (1,746) people.

They are to be paid in two trenches according to the statement and the money involved is valued at N2,312,841,065.08.

The statement further said, Payment of the gratuity for the second tranche of verified pensioners for state numbering (413) people commences on Friday, March 1, 2024.

They are to be paid the sum of NGN 682,228,647.38

The statement added further that the payment of the second tranche of verified pensioners from Local Governments numbering (403) has commences.

The sum of N449,667,142.08 has so far been made.

“Out of the 3079 pensioners who have been verified, 1746 have received their gratuity payments in two tranches from both the state and local governments.
