It could be recalled on Friday night some suspected bandits invaded Wurma, Lambo and Guda communities in Kurfi local government area of Katsina State.
According to some reports, the armed bandits came in large number and in full force and started shooting sporadically.
Reports further said it was not the first time bandits are attacking these communities, hence in the first attack they ransacked several houses and later burnt the political formation stationed in the areas, a circumstance that forced residents of the affected areas to flee for safety.
Katsina State Commissioner for Security Dr. Nasir Babangida Muazu said the Friday attack launched by the bandits scared the residents of the areas to flee out of their communities for fear of the unknown.
BBC Hausa service had earlier reported that there is no one in the affected communities since the Friday incidents.
One Friday, some residents of Kurfi local government staged a protest over occurring incidences of armed bandit attacks.
They claimed that numerous people were killed, and many others were abducted in various armed bandit attacks.
They also stated that as a result of the stealing of various commodities, people believed the best way to show their anger and force the government to take measures is to embark on a street protest.
A similar street protest was carried out in Birchi community of Kurfi local government area of the state.
Another report says these communities affected by armed bandit activities are also suffering from influx of internally displaced people
Katsina State Commissioner for Security Dr. Nasir Baba Muazu said the state government is aware of the development in the areas, and it has resolved that it would do everything possible to address their suffering.
He stated that Governor Umar Dikko Radda had visited the scene of the incidents and commiserated with the people.
