Residents of Bingi community and their neighboring villages have blocked Sokoto-Zamfara road along Tashar Abu as part of the steps taken to demonstrate their anger over what they termed as “worsening security situation in their communities.
A source who was part of the protestors but demanded for anonymity said, Sokoto-Zamfara road has been blocked since 5:00am on Friday just to demonstrate to the world their devastating security situation in the state.
He said the people of the area have lost hope with the effort of the government in securing them when the over 70 soldiers stationed in Bingi for months were asked to moved out of the community.
He said when they realized that even with the Wednesday encounter soldiers and other security agencies could not guarantee their safety they opted to massively moved out of that community and relocate at Tsahar Abu.
He told this medium that as at yesterday over 2000 women trekked bear footed while children in their thousands also moved along with their parents to exit the community.
As at 11:30am women in their hundreds blocked the entire road, and insist they would not clear the road for commuters until their security is ensured.
The source added that, there is a long queue of vehicles reaching up to Danmarke and Bungudu in Zamfara state.
This medium gathered that, police authority have been making an outreach to plead with the protestors to allow the road for commutters.
