A protesting widow name withheld has allegedly assaulted a first class Emir from Maru an emirate council in Zamfara State.
According to an eyewitness, he stated that the emir Alh Gado Maigari came to plead with the protesting women and children who blocked the popular Sokoto-Gusau road as part of their concern to demonstrate their anger over the worsening security situation in the state but end up being assaulted by one of the angry woman.
Other protestors shouted at the emir and attempted to crash his vehicle before his drivers maneuvered their way out of the scene.
He told this medium that, the angry protestors numbering over two thousand stood their ground that they would not allow access to the highway until the government is able to provide adequate security for their safety.
The eyewitness explained further that, motorists and commuters have been stranded for hours even as motorcyclists took advantage of the situation to be transporting stranded passengers to the exit borders.
It could be recall that, residents of Bingi local government area of Zamfara State took to the street to protest to demonstrate their anger over series of attacks against their communities by the suspected bandits.
Few hours before the protest, the soldiers earlier deployed in Bingi community for several months have moved out of the village after people of the area were attacked by the bandits and scores killed.
As at 6:00 evening, security operative were making extensive pleading for the protestors to allow access to the Sokoto-Gusau highway for the stranded commuters to proceed with their trips, but the people sound not willing to accept the offer.
