The incident occurred at Umunze Police Station, Orumba South Local Government Area, about 10 a.m. yesterday. The proscribed indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) bombed one of the police stations in Anambra State, killing three policemen. Nevertheless, five of the unexploded bombs were recovered by the Joint Security Forces, which are made up of the Military, Police, Navy, Civil Defense, and vigilance groups.

Further information revealed that the attackers had arrived in the community to carry out the Monday sit-at-home policy before coming into contact with the security personnel. Although an eyewitness reported that three police officers had died and others had been injured, Tochukwu Ikenga, the state Police Command spokesperson, stated that only two officers had died.
He declared: “The Joint Security Forces, which are made up of the Army, Navy, Civil Defense, Police, and other security agencies, have found five unexploded improvised explosive devices and are pursuing members of an armed secessionist group and arsonists who attacked the Umunze Police Station early on September 16, 2024.

“The suspected armed proscribed group broke into the Police facility using homemade explosives, firing intermittently and setting a section of the station on fire.”
