In a recent development, the number of the abducted school pupils from Kuriga government school Kaduna has risen to 280.
One of the teachers who escaped from captivity stated the figure while addressing the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Uba Sani who paid a condolence visit to the people of Kuriga village in Chikun local government area.
He said the number of pupils abducted from the secondary school section was put at (180) while that of the primary school section was put at (125).
But he said (25) among the primary school pupils have escaped from captivity, making the number of those In captivity to (280).
He told the Governor that the bandits came in large number, surrounded the school and force the pupils to the forest.
“Our vigilante operatives have made attempt to stop the bandits from moving with the pupils, but their efforts failed.
He added that one of the members of the vigilante was shot dead by the bandits during the operation.
The Governor who condoled with the people of Kuriga town expressed regret with the development and promised to do everything possible to rescue the students unharmed.
