(OUR POSITION)
It has been a week of another jurisdictional crisis between the military and police over the killing of police DPO attached to Wasagu division, Haliru Liman.
According to the information made available to this medium by one of the sources in Zuru the late police officer was shot dead at Danmarke military checkpoint after refusing to stop for military stop and search operations.
It was also alleged that, two sets of AK-47 Rifles have been found inside his Toyota personal vehicle with no explanation on the sources of the weapons and where he was taking them to.
The story and circumstances leading to the death of the police officer and the discovery made inside his vehicle left more than can be expected.
Ordinarily and if it was normal, the late police officer should have stopped at the military checkpoint and offered a convincing explanation regarding the weapons he was conveying.
That should have resolved the whole problem, but many believed his refusal may make the whole thing suspicious, hence the security circumstances that characterized his area of operation, Wasagu which is the border town between Kebbi and Dansadau axis of Zamfara State.
But beyond assertions and counter assertions, the authorities should, especially the police and Nigerian Army, should wade into the matter and make public the real story behind the murder of the police officer.
The outcome of the investigation should be made public in the overall interest of making others in the line of action to learn lessons from the findings
