LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER RELEASE OF JANGEBE STUDENTS, BANDITS ABDUCT ANOTHER 60 PERSONS IN ZAMFARA

Suspected bandits had again abducted over 60 persons at Ruwan Tofa village in Maru local government area of Zamfara State on Tuesday.

This came barely less than 24 hours after the release of over 200 jangebe abducted girls through the initiative of the state government.

A source who spoke to BBC Hausa Services said half of the village was burnt even as vehicles and shops were set ablaze by the bandits.

Bandits have been attacking Ruwan Tofa severally but the Tuesday attacks has been a traumatic one since majority of the residents have fled the village for fear of the unknown.

He said there is a household whose four wives and children were abducted living behind only a child of seven years old with him.

He explained that, the representative of the village head and his entire family were abducted even as married women, children and aged ones were involved in the recent abduction.

Another source said the bandits have set ablaze his food stuffs and that his 15 were abducted by the bandits.

He told BBC Hausa service that, though no one was killed in the recent attack, a person who was shot by the bandits have been hospitalized and is currently receiving treatment.

On the response of the security agents, residents said they have made several calls to security agencies who promised they will come but up to the time when the bandits left the security agencies have not arrived the village.
