National Human Right Commission has commended the effort of the security operatives especially police, military and operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp for professionally handling the protest by residents of Bingi community in Zamfara State.
State Coordinator of the Commission Mr Abdullah Abubakar who gave the commendation during a TV show programme of Thunder Blowers Multi Media Services Tiryan Tiryan on Saturday said, although the road blockage lasted for over ten hours the police and other security agencies including the military were civic in their engagement and their endurance need to be commended.
“For us the police and other security agents present throughout the period of the protest have observed the best forms of international standard practice since no one was either shot or injured, this is absolutely commendable” Abdullah added.
He called on the state government to consider the option of change of strategy in the management of Zamfara conflict, noting that with the growing rate of fresh cases of attacks and abduction, it is clear that government need to change its strategy toward something realistic.
He also called on the federal government to consider the option of redeployment of more security operatives to flash point areas of Zamfara state so that the bandits can be faced squarely.
