British national Andrew Wynne, also known as Andrew Povich or Drew Povey, has been listed as wanted by the Nigeria Police Force.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations officer, made the announcement to media on Monday at the police headquarters in Abuja.
According to Mr. Adejobi, the British national is wanted in connection with a purported attempt to topple President Bola Tinubu’s lawfully elected administration.
According to him, there is a scheme by foreign mercenaries and subversive groups “to undermine the democratically elected government in Nigeria through unconstitutional regime change and orchestrating violence across the country,” and the police have opened a thorough investigation into it.
The police spokesperson claimed that in order to hide his subversive actions, the British man set up “STARS of Nations Schools” and booked a location in Labour House, Abuja, for a “Iva Valley Bookshop.”
Nine suspects who received significant financial support from external sources to destabilize the nation have been captured after extensive intelligence collection and cooperation with other security organizations.
This declaration comes days after the police re-invited Joe Ajaero, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), over the British citizen Mr. Wynne, his tenant at Labour House, Abuja, despite having honored their previous invitation days earlier. “Preliminary findings suggest they orchestrated and funded violent protests, disseminated false information, and engaged in other unlawful activities to create anarchy and justify their illegal plot to overthrow the democratically elected government,” he claimed.
