Nigerian Defense Headquarters stated that its troops have succeeded in killing (227) terrorist bandits and other criminal elements in the past week.
Director of Defense Media Operation Major General Edward Buba made the declaration during a bi-weekly media briefing.
He also stated that Nigerian operatives arrested (529) suspects and rescued (253) hostages.
The statement added that the troops recovered various weapons and destroyed many illegal structures used in perpetuating crimes.
The recovered items, according to Buba included (89) AK-47, (40) locally fabricated guns, (59) Dane guns as well as (250) Kg of bombs.
He stated that the troops are combat ready to eliminate the terrorist threat and ensure national security.
