The editorial board of Thunder Blowers Multimedia services has written an FOI letter to the Permanent Secretary Ministry for Local Government and Community Development over their refusal to pay the two months salary of workers under the local government and those working in ZSUBEB.

It could be recalled that over twenty-five thousand workers under the (14) local government councils and those working under the state universal basic education board were not paid their June and July 2023 salaries.

As a result of the public outcry, the governor issued a public commitment instructing the state ministry for local government and community development to ensure that the outstanding salary of the workers is paid before closing of the work on Monday the 7th August 2023.

Up to 2:00pm of today Thursday the 10th August 2023, the commitment of the Governor has not been fulfilled, and no reason was advanced by either the ministry or the government.

Three days back, some government officials were on the radio of Zamfara to tell reason for the delay in the payment of the salary of the civil servants in the state an interview which was characterized as step that further fuel the tension among the affected civil servants.

The Thunder Blowers Editorial Board decided to take the matter up and make it a public story on why the present administration is having difficulty in paying civil servants in the state their monthly salary.

Copies of the FOI request were equally sent to the leadership of the NLC, TUC, NULGE, the office of the SSG and that of the Speaker for action.

A full feature story on the crises in the non-payment of local government salary will be made public shortly.
