The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has honored six state Governor’s for their exceptional performance in developing education in their respective states.
The event took place in Abuja during the celebration of International Teachers Day.
The state Governors honored include Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno, Seyin Makinde of Oyo state, Hyacinth Alia of Benue state, Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Nasir Idris of Kebbi state.
The National Chairman of the union, Comr. Titus Ambe said the Governors were keenly selected because of their exceptional performance in developing the education sectors of their respective states.
He said emphasis was given during the selection in the area of ensuring teachers welfare, provision of teaching aides as well other aspects of educational development.
According to a statement by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf spoke on behalf of the other Governors awarded and assured that his administration will continue to do its best in boosting the education sector of Kano state.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation Sen. George Akume who stood in for President Bola Ahmad Tinubu commended the Governors for their foresight in prioritizing education in their states.
