Political parties in Ondo State have received voter register copies for the November 16 governorship election, in line with the Electoral Act, 2022. The total number of registered voters after the continuous voter registration and clean-up exercise was 2,053,061. Supervising National Commissioner Prof. Kunle Ajayi stated the commission is prepared for a free, fair, credible, and inclusive election and encouraged party representatives to mobilize supporters for the polls.

Ajayi declared, “Nobody would be able to vote without the PVC. Since it is illegal, there won’t be any collection via proxy, and anyone found in possession of more than one voter card will be subject to the full force of the law.

The commission is eager to improve its ability to oversee inclusive elections on all fronts. Therefore, allow me to take this opportunity to urge all people with disabilities (PWD), PWD-focused CSOs, and groups to come out and pick up their PVCs. The commission has made sufficient provisions for assistive devices, so everyone with a disability will be able to vote in the upcoming Ondo Governorship Election with ease.

Mrs. Babalola Oluwatoyin, the Ondo REC, urged political parties to support the Commission’s voter education and sensitization campaigns in order to guarantee that a large number of voters engage in the election process without fear of undue influence or dread.

She advised political parties and candidates running for governor to follow the law and interact politely and harmoniously with the voters.

The Voter Register’s presentation and publishing guarantee openness and create an equitable environment for all parties involved. I urge everyone involved in this process—civil society organizations, the media, and the electorate—to continue being watchful and dedicated to preserving its integrity.

“The Voters Registers are just the first step in the process. To make sure that this election is carried out in a transparent and equitable manner at every level, we must cooperate. We must ensure that all eligible voters have access to the information they need to participate fully in the democratic process. By working together, we can uphold the principles of fairness and accountability that are essential for a successful election.
