Hon. Hamisu Faru, the lawmaker representing Bukkuyum South, has lamented that he has lost over 70% of his constituency to suspected armed bandits.
In an interview with the BBC Hausa service on Saturday, Faru insisted that there are more than 50 different armed bandit camps operated by over 5,000 heartless criminals.
He stated that these bandit camps connect the Bukkuyum forest with that of Bagega in Anka, noting that his people who had been abducted over time were subjected to a series of molestations, including being tied with metal ropes while they survived in the forest.
He called on the federal government to come to the aid of his people, suggesting that the best way to address the problem is for the air force to conduct an aerial bombardment of the entire forest.
He noted that his people are suffering and that the Presidency, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Ministry of Defense, as well as other security agencies, should come to their aid by securing Bukkuyum South and the entire local government by extension.
