The All Progressives Congress is allegedly plotting to incite violence on November 16 during the Ondo State gubernatorial election, according to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). President Bola Tinubu was urged by the party to warn Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa against abusing state resources to compromise security ahead of the election. It also urged the Inspector General of Police and other heads of security to take proactive measures to prevent the purported use of violence before and during the state’s impending elections.

As we approach the election—a stitch in time, they say, saves nine—we call on the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Department of State Security, and the Heads of other Security Agencies to show greater interest in developments intended to cause security breaches in Ondo State.
The APC Media Director, Steve Otaloro, dismissed the PDP’s allegations against the party and governor as false and baseless, claiming they were intended to distract the governor. The APC spokesman defended the governor’s unwavering commitment to peace and security in Ondo State, rejecting any insinuation that he plans to cause a security breach. They emphasized that all government security actions are legitimate efforts to enhance security.
We further disagree with the PDP’s attempt to associate any acts of intimidation or violence with Governor Aiyedatiwa. His leadership has been characterized by respect for every citizen, tolerance, and inclusivity.
