A politician and APC chieftain in Zamfara Ahmad Abubakar Maradun has accused the operatives of Zamfara Road Traffic Agency (ZAROTA) of conducting their operations without professionalism.

The politician who raised the allegations during a TV show programme of Thunder Blowers “Dawache Kazo” insisted that unless the government of Zamfara set eyes on their activities, they are likely going to cause serious confusion in the state polity.

He recalled that last week he was a victim of the humiliation by ZAROTA operatives at the Investment house traffic junction when one of the operatives used a deadly stick to the site mirror of his vehicle.

He narrated that he was stopped by the traffic light when he arrived at the junction, and he waited patiently for the green light alert, noting that as he prepared to move they attempted to block him from going even though the green light had approved him to move.

He added that knowing fully it was prohibited for him to stop when the green light cleared him to move, he refused to stop but one of the ZAROTA operatives used a stick to hit his car resulting in having one of his side mirrors broken.

Maradun attributed their action to a high level of lack of professionalism, insisted that if the ZAROTA operatives are allowed to continue operating in the same manner, they are likely going to cause bad blood for the government.

He said even though there have been some allegations that they were allowed to continue doing what they were doing because they are generating massive revenue for the government, Maradun insisted that the government needs to do what is needed to put sanity in the operation of the ZAROTA operatives.

He cited reference to professional conduct exhibited by the operatives of the FRSC and even the police traffic warders, which he said, to some extent, respect the fundamental rights of the Zamfara citizens.

Maradun finally called on the Governor to set eyes on their activities before they cause serious problems for his government
